Easterseals Northeast Indiana Receives Wilson Foundation Grant

$5,000 Grant Supports Innovative Tools for People with Disabilities

Fort Wayne, Ind. — Easterseals Northeast Indiana has received a generous Wilson Foundation grant of $5,000 from the Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation. This funding will support the purchase and implementation of assistive technology for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Assistive technology encompasses a wide range of tools, including software applications, communication devices, sensory aids, and mobility equipment. These tools play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live more independently and confidently.

Empowering Lives Through Technology

With support from the Wilson Foundation grant, Easterseals Northeast Indiana will be able to provide access to technology that enhances communication, supports health and wellness, improves mobility, and helps manage sensory sensitivities. Examples include speech-generating devices, wearable health monitors, adaptive keyboards, and more.

For many individuals, assistive technology is not just a tool — it is a pathway to achieving personal milestones. Whether it’s gaining the ability to speak with family, participating more fully in community life, or entering the workforce with confidence, technology opens doors that were once closed.

A Broader Impact in Northeast Indiana

Easterseals Northeast Indiana is committed to creating a more inclusive community. The Wilson Foundation grant strengthens that mission by directly impacting the lives of individuals who rely on specialized support to thrive. By investing in personalized technology solutions, the organization aims to foster independence, build stronger social connections, and promote meaningful participation in daily life.

“We are deeply grateful to the Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation for this support,” said a spokesperson for Easterseals Northeast Indiana. “This grant enables us to break down barriers and give the people we serve the tools they need to reach their fullest potential.”
