The English Bonter Mitchell Foundation recently awarded a grant of $35,000 to Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana to support education and pre-employment services for young adults in the agency’s Transitions program.
Transitions is a day program that helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop skills for independence and employability. Easterseals Arc will use the grant funds to:
- Purchase and implement five new curricula
- Purchase new technology, including a Prowise interactive whiteboard and 30 Prowise Chromebooks
- Offset transportation costs and entry fees for community experiences
- Purchase portable training kits, enabling staff to host program activities at alternative community sites selected to enhance integration
The program’s goals are to develop job readiness and social skills; improve mental and emotional health; increase employability; build social networks; and provide support for families and caregivers.
