Fort Wayne, Ind. — The Flora Dale Krouse Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Easterseals Northeast Indiana to support music therapy.
The grant funds will allow the agency to contract New Waves Wellness to provide weekly group music therapy sessions at Easterseals locations in Fort Wayne, Columbia city and Angola.
The sessions will benefit about 90 adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Easterseals Northeast Indiana’s day services.
Music therapy helps individuals with disabilities enhance their skills for:
· Self-expression and communication
· Coping, resiliency and self-regulation
· Motivation and learning
· Physical activity/body awareness
· Healthy relationships and social connections
