Grant to Support Inclusive Job Opportunities

Fort Wayne, Ind. — Easterseals Northeast Indiana has received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation DeKalb County to strengthen and expand its disability employment programs in DeKalb County. This vital funding will support innovative services that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as other at-risk community members, prepare for and secure meaningful employment.

Training and Skill Development for Participants

Assessing Needs and Removing Barriers

Through these disability employment programs, Easterseals Northeast Indiana works closely with participants to assess their unique needs, skills, and interests. Staff members identify potential barriers to employment and design personalized plans to overcome them.

Hands-On Experience and Virtual Reality Training

Training opportunities include hands-on work experiences, job shadowing, and the use of virtual reality technology to simulate real-world workplace environments. These approaches give participants the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to succeed in competitive jobs.
