Lincoln Financial Foundation Awards $30,000 to Easterseals Employment Services

Fort Wayne, Ind. — Easterseals Northeast Indiana has been awarded a generous $30,000 grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation to strengthen its employment services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The funding will specifically support efforts to enhance employability and essential soft skills, empowering participants to succeed in today’s workforce.

Through this grant, Easterseals Arc will deliver a comprehensive suite of services including personalized assessments, vocational training, internships, job placement, continued education, and on-the-job support. These services are designed to equip participants with the tools they need to secure and maintain meaningful employment opportunities that align with their interests, goals, and abilities.

The organization’s employment programs are deeply rooted in a person-centered approach, ensuring that each participant’s unique strengths and challenges are recognized and addressed. The goal is not just employment, but sustainable, fulfilling work that leads to increased independence and self-confidence.

Among Easterseals Northeast Indiana’s wide range of employment services are the Transitions day program and Employment Readiness Academies. The Transitions program emphasizes goal setting and skill-building by incorporating daily activities that promote work-based learning and community employment exploration. Meanwhile, Employment Readiness Academies offer immersive, hands-on job training experiences through partnerships with local employers, giving participants practical skills and real-world exposure in various industries.

In addition to adult services, Easterseals also supports youth with disabilities through Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) at several area high schools. This vital program includes job exploration, work-based learning experiences, workplace readiness training, instruction in self-advocacy, and counseling on post-secondary education and training options. By reaching students early, Pre-ETS lays the groundwork for long-term success and independence.

Easterseals Northeast Indiana is an approved provider for Vocational Rehabilitation Services and participates in the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program, both of which expand the range of resources available to those seeking employment.

Thanks to the support of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, Easterseals Northeast Indiana can continue its mission of creating a more inclusive workforce where individuals of all abilities have the opportunity to thrive.
