What Is the Hospitality Lab?
The hospitality lab is more than a classroom—it’s a career-launching environment. Participants gain experience in kitchen operations, safety, sanitation, and hospitality essentials. This program is open to all individuals and provides a supportive, skill-building space.
In the hospitality lab, you will:
- Practice hands-on food preparation and service skills
- Learn essential food safety standards
- Build confidence in a team setting
- Prepare for certification exams
- Receive one-on-one support from experienced instructors
ServSafe Food Handler Certification
The hospitality lab prepares participants for the certification exam from ServSafe, a nationally recognized food safety program developed by the National Restaurant Association. This certification is often required for food service jobs and proves you understand safe food handling practices.
Learn the five CDC Risk Factors for foodborne illness prevention:
- Basic food safety
- Personal hygiene
- Cross-contamination and allergens
- Time and temperature control
- Cleaning and sanitation

4 weeks, September 15 through October 13
8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Cost: $650 but scholarship funds are available.
